Help us welcome our first group of speakers and sessions

We’re very excited to announce that speaker selection is complete and we’d like to introduce you to our first group of speakers! If you’ve been holding off buying tickets until speakers were announced, wait no more.

In addition to standard conference talks, we’re debuting a new track type this year known simply as the “town hall” track. That’s right, we’re going to have an entire track dedicated to providing topical Q&A, each hosted by experts in their field. So far we’ve lined up six, 50-minute town hall sessions for the schedule, two of which we’ve outlined below. Keep an eye out for the other four in future posts!

Speaking of the schedule … it’s coming. We promise! We’re ironing out some details with our remaining speakers and anticipate publishing a full weekend schedule very soon. So without further adieu, let’s meet our first 10 speakers.

In case you missed it: tickets, speakers, volunteers, and sponsors

Planning for WordCamp Denver is in full swing as we head toward November and we wanted to recap some news posted in the last few weeks, just in case you missed it.

Call for Speakers (apply now)

On August 5th, Patrick posted the call for speakers. Speakers drive the content and narrative of WordCamps, and in Denver, we like speakers who have stories to tell and/or learning moments to share, no matter how much experience you have.

Explaining how you learned something can help others learn too! So if you’ve learned anything new recently, we’d love to hear from you.

The deadline for speaker applications has been extended by one week to Friday, September 23rd. Apply today.

Call for Volunteers (get in touch)

On August 10th, Amber posted the call for volunteers. Volunteers are the grease in the wheels that keep WordCamps rolling.

Whether they’re organizing, speaking, hosting rooms, running video equipment, helping people register, answering questions at the community help lounge, and more, volunteers an integral part of making WordCamp Denver a success year after year.

We’re still looking for volunteers, so if you’re interested in helping us out, get in touch.

Call for Sponsors (find out more)

On August 14th, Corrinda posted the call for sponsors. Sponsors allow WordCamps to be successful in providing awesome venues for learning, discussion, and socializing throughout the weekend. Sponsors are also the primary driver for keeping ticket prices low while getting awesome exposure to key demographics.

If you’re interested sponsoring WordCamp Denver, visit our sponsor page.

Call for Attendees (get your tickets)

On September 7th, Drew (that’s me!) posted the call for attendees, which is just a fancy way of saying “ticket sales are open!”.

$40 for a two day conference, lunch on Saturday, and even some sweet WordPress swag is a real steal. If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, there’s still quite a few left. Find out more on our tickets page.

Call for Speakers

TLDR; Speaker applications for WordCamp Denver 2016 are now closed.

WordCamps are an opportunity to learn about new technology; make connections with designers, developers, freelancers, copy-writers, agency owners, and site builders; as well as get involved in your local WordPress community.

To do that we need members in our community to step onto a stage and share their story. You don’t need to have a special degree or credentials. You just have to have a learning moment that you’re willing to share.

  • Did you get hacked? Tell us what you learned?
  • Did you learn the secrets of content marketing? Can you distill them into a top 10 list?
  • Do you develop custom themes for small businesses? What are the most time consuming parts of that process and how do you speed it up?
  • Did you find the perfect 4 plugins for any site? What are they and are there any tricks to installing them?
  • Did you have a client from hell and you put in place rules to never have one again? What are those rules and how well have they worked?

We’re going to have 4 types of talks:

  • Development (coding, hosting, test sites, etc)
  • Design (color & design theory, theme design, etc)
  • Business (profit optimization, running a team, working with freelancers, etc)
  • Growth (SEO, SEM, content marketing, social media, etc)

If you’ve had a learning moment and it relates to one of the topics above we’d love to have you.

We’re also planning a townhall track which will be an hour long Q&A on a designated topics. If you’re willing to be in the hot seat in a townhall session please mention it in your application.
